"Bedda Matri"

BEDDA MATRI is a Sicilian expression meaning "Beautiful Mother," used to express awe and wonder.

The B&B is called Bedda Matri in honor of Giuseppina, the mother of us all: Patrizia, Domenico, Francesco, Marco, Claudia, Giulia, Remo, and Pietro. Her image is etched in our eyes and hearts, just like the wonderful island of SALINA.

In creating the B&B to honor Giuseppina, we also envisioned a place to welcome friends, travelers, and explorers, embodying the best of Eolian hospitality.

B&B BEDDA MATRI was born from the restoration of an old Eolian house, the "Family Home," to preserve the memory and essence of what we have always cherished.

Nature in its most extraordinary forms: the volcanoes, the sky, the sea with its colors and moods, the coasts, the olive trees, the sunrises, the winds, the land... and the sea breeze.

"The restoration"

In the restoration, a clear distinction was made between the old and the modern. The original structure was meticulously preserved and highlighted, while modern elements were added in perfect harmony to complete the missing parts, using the architectural language of our time while keeping the history of the place intact.
Even the names of the four rooms – "Pomice" (Pumice), "Sciara" (Lava Flow), "Ardesia" (Slate), and "Ossidiana" (Obsidian) – reflect this microcosm caressed by the sea yet forged by fire.
The Aeolian Islands, so close yet so distinct, offer a palette of colors to anyone who sets foot on their shores: from the red of Stromboli’s lapilli, to the whitewashed houses of Panarea, the deep blue of Filicudi’s waters, the brown of Alicudi’s mule trails, the green vineyards of Salina, the yellow sulfur of Vulcano, and the black obsidian of Lipari.
